What's Great in Dayton: November 23 - 29, 2012

The Dayton Holiday Festival Kickoff Events begin at the Courthouse Square in Downtown Dayton; 4-9 p.m. today. The festival kicks off with the Grande Illumination and the Dayton Children's Parade Spectacular in Lights. A full evening of fun holiday entertainment and activities including live Main Stage entertainment, the Gingerbread Homes for the Holidays contest, the Street Fair on Third, horse-drawn wagon rides and much more.

What better way to welcome the holidays than by skating with friends and family?  Starting Sunday, the MetroParks Ice Rink will be open. Warm up with hot chocolate and enjoy the outdoor fireplaces. All ages are welcome.

Enjoy the ninth annual Aullwood Holiday Art Fair and Open House on Saturday, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Twenty-two area artists and designers will offer beautiful artwork, hand crafted jewelry and exquisite gifts. Visitors will be able to purchase freshly made fir swags and boxwood wreaths and shop in the Aullwood Nature Store. Soup and sandwiches will be available in the Aullwood Café.

If you want to go on a historic home tours in McPherson Town than it is Friday and Saturday. Guests will enjoy guided tours, charming decorations, music and delicious holiday treats.

WYSO is now accepting applications for the 2013 Community Voices Training Course. The course meets for a Saturday seminar once a month for six months, from January to June. Participants learn to record and edit audio, conduct interviews, write for radio, and ultimately produce a feature story. Apply now!  Applications for the 2013 training are due December 3rd.
