Endorsements for Whaley, Wagner Come In Ahead Of Election

In the weeks leading up to November 5th, endorsements for both Democratic candidates for Dayton mayor, A.J. Wagner and Nan Whaley, continue to come in. Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown endorsed Whaley last week. In a interview with WYSO Thursday, Sen. Brown said he chose to make an endorsement because local politics play a big part in the recovery of the region, which has been suffering since the loss of companies like DHL, NCR and General Motors.

Sides Debate Court Timing in Ohio Medicaid Dispute

Attorneys for the state say there's no need for the Ohio Supreme Court to rush its consideration of a lawsuit over Medicaid expansion.

Two anti-abortion groups and six Republican lawmakers are suing Ohio after a legislative panel cleared the way for Gov. John Kasich's administration to spend federal dollars to cover more people in the Medicaid health program.

In a court filing yesterday, state Solicitor Eric Murphy says the plaintiffs don't properly justify their request to speed up the case in a manner similar to election cases.

Dayton Mayoral Candidates Receive Diverse Endorsements in Final Days of Campaign

On Monday, Dayton mayoral candidate A.J. Wagner received a slew of endorsements from Democrats and republicans alike.

Wagner has listed his ability to work across party lines as a key strength in his bid for mayor. On October 28th, he received public endorsements from Independent Mayor Gary Leitzel, Republican Congressman Mike Turner, Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer and Democrat Rhine McLin, former mayor of Dayton.  McLin was not present at the news conference where the endorsements were made.

Conservative Ohio Leaders Push Immigration Reform in Washington

 Conservative leaders from Ohio are headed to Washington this week to lobby for immigration reform in a collaboration between businesses, evangelicals, and law enforcement. Twenty Ohio leaders are among the hundreds who have meetings set with House Republicans Tuesday. While the Senate passed a comprehensive bill earlier this year, the House has yet to bring a bill to the floor.
