Poetry

Ed Davis is a Yellow Springs poet who teaches at Sinclair Community College.  Here he sits down with WYSO's Conrad Balliet to discuss some of the themes found in his work including the healing arts and shares some of those poems.

Conrad Balliet reads David Garrison's poem, "Folding Tables and Five Card Stud - for Judd."

Conrad Balliet reads Marietta Ball's poem, "The Sun Subordinate."

Conrad Balliet reads Terry Hermsen's poem, "The Yellow Spring - For the Glen and Tara."

Conrad Balliet reads David Petreman's poem, "Father David Goes to Ohio"

Conrad Balliet reads Barbara Astor's poem, "Woodlore."

Conrad Balliet visits Excursions to share poetry and music with Niki Dakota.  They discuss the high quality and quantity of the poetry by writers in the Miami Valley and invite listeners to an upcoming poetry reading in Conrad's honor at Wittenberg University.

David Lee Garrison joins Conrad Balliet in the WYSO studios to talk about their common background in traditional verse.  They talk about different styles of poetry and how writing in rhyme can be liberating.  Garrison shares examples of several types of poems and talks about what inspired each.
