Live on Kaleidoscope: Set the Controls

Set the Controls

Formerly known as Eclipse, Set the Controls is a Pink Floyd tribute band with many Dayton roots including local musician Tod Weidner (Shrug, The Motel Beds) on guitar.  Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt spoke Weidner about the band's take on classic Pink Floyd tunes.

Set the Controls will perform on Saturday, December 17 at Canal Street Tavern.

What's Great in Dayton: December 9 - 15, 2011

The Ohio Valley British Brass Band

Tonight , at 7:00pm at UD, in the theater that is in their student union the DCDC2 will present its annual festival of dance, decorations, candy, and elves. They bring in the season’s rhythms and good cheer.

And at 8:00 tonight The Oral Funk Poetry Productions will be doing “The Signature: A Poetic Medley Show.” This is at De’Lish Café, 139 N. Main St, downtown Dayton. The event will feature free hors d’oeuvres, drink specials and live entertainment.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Goodnight Keith Moon Co-author Bruce Worden

Bruce Worden says the idea for Goodnight Keith Moon came during his son's storytime. 

"I had probably been listening to some Who albums during the day, and then at night I was reading Goodnight Moon to my son at bedtime," says Worden. "It just sort of struck me that saying 'goodnight moon' was kind of a little eulogy for Keith Moon."

Here Worden describes the development of the parody picture book, Goodnight Keith Moon with his co-author Clare Cross.

Denny Johnson/The Rug: The Lifelong Application of Layin' Down the Bass/Love Philosophy

Shakin' Dave's tribute to his friend and former bandmate, the late Denny Johnson.

He was a blessed and enlightened individual. He maintained the quintessential Bass/role playing persona There was nothing rote about DJ. He must have been born with a comprehensive insight into the human condition and its obvious contradictions. His maturity, at least from a philosophical musical standpoint was intimidating to this wannabe guitarist/visual artist.
