Ohio is located within one day’s drive of more than half the country’s population. This fact is often touted by development officials looking to boost the state’s economic profile.

It’s also a favorite talking point among many Miami Valley business leaders, who say the proximity to interstate highways gives Dayton an edge in attracting new investment.

JobsOhio, the state’s semi-private development arm, says 800 jobs are coming to the Dayton area as Procter & Gamble plans to invest nearly $90 million in a new logistics facility in the city of Union, near the Dayton airport.

State and local leaders are pushing to grow the logistics and transportation industries, particularly around the I-70/I-75 interchange, with one major new project already under construction west of the Dayton International Airport.
