Montgomery County Says Your Ballots Will Be Counted

Nov 2, 2010

As absentee results come in, Montgomery County board of elections official Steve Harsman assures voters their ballot will be counted

"First and foremost, anyone who voted early or by absentee, if their ballot was eligable to be counted, it will be included in that total. There's a myth by a lot of voters in the public and the media that those ballots are only counted if the race is close, and in fact, it's the opposite. It's the first set of results and the ballots that we count first," says Harsman.

One of the closely watched races for the US House is in the 1st Congressional district that covers Cincinnati.

Democrat incumbant Steve Driehaus is challenged by Republican hopeful Steve Chabot. Chabot represented the 1st District for seven terms before Driehaus unseated him in 2008 during the Presidential election.

WVXU s Ann Thompson says it's been a very tough race for Driehaus. He lost party support after some bad polling numbers came out in September showing Driehaus twelve percentage points behind Chabot.
