Goodwill Easter Seals Plans Dayton Service Complex

A local charity has bought the final piece of real estate it needs to launch construction of an $11 million, 80,000-square-foot human services center near downtown Dayton.

Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley will begin by razing the former South Main Street flag shop it purchased this week and six adjacent commercial properties.

The Dayton Daily News reports officials are soliciting architectural bids for the building and surroundings.

Tonight is First Friday in downtown Dayton and the United Way will host the Live United Block Party in the Oregon District from 4 to 7 p.m. 19 agencies of the organization will set up booths along Fifth Street, If you visit more than 10 of the booths then you will be entered into a raffle to win several prizes, including a diamond tennis bracelet and a pair of tickets to a Cincinnati Bengals football game. Look for Heater, the Dayton Dragons' mascot, wearing a Live United T-shirt during the block party.
