Live on Kaleidoscope: the Esther Caulfield Orchestra and Andy Gabbard Homemade

The Esther Caulfield Orchestra and Andy Gabbard Homemade share a common lineup and a common love for great rock and roll, but stylistically the two projects are different.  The Orchestra embraces a more British psychedelic sound, while Homemade trends toward more of Americana feel.  Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt spoke with M. Ross Perkins, Andy Gabbard  and Sven Kahns about the similarities and differences between the two acts, and the trio shared live and recorded tracks from both projects.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Robthebank

Robthebank formed in the mid 90s and performed around Dayton and the Midwest until guitar player/vocalist Nate Farley got an offer to tour with Guided by Voices.  Inspired by a reunion show of another 90s Dayton band, the Method, earlier this spring, Farley, Craigo Nichols (Drums), Duane Hart (Bass) and Heather Newkirk (Vocals) began rehearsing Robthebank material and soon began playing shows locally.  Now the band is recording new material with hopes of releasing an album soon.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Richard Ringer

Richard Ringer hails from Greenville, OH but spent time performing in New York's Antifolk scene which he says he found liberating.  Ringer's latest album, Creepster Freakster, was a departure from previous recordings written from the point of view of fictional characters.  A lifelong writer, Ringer has written an unpublished novella and is currently working on a new album called Afterlife Surprise, set to be released in 2012.
