What's Great in Dayton: November 4 - 10, 2016

Michael & Sandy Bashaw are presenting Sound Sculpture concerts tonight and Saturday, 8pm; doors open at 7. The concerts will feature new music composed for the Sound Sculptures, as well as some favorites from past concerts.

On Saturday from 10am to 2pm, We Care Artsis having a fun event for the whole family! Kids (of all ages) can make their own creations at their make It/take it. All types of craft supplies will be furnished, and ideas and help are available from friendly "elves". Meanwhile, Mom can shop for one-of-a-kind gifts in their unique Gift Shop.

The Beer-ry Christmas Dayton is in the Kettering Tower on Saturday, 4-7pm. From Belgians and Barleywines to Stouts and Sours, these beers are rich, robust and full of complex flavors. This joyous holiday celebration is to benefit the House of Bread, a non-profit community kitchen serving hot, nutritious, lunchtime meals to anyone in need 7 days a week in Dayton.

The Little Exchange's annual Holiday Open House is Sunday 11:00am - 5:00pm. Their profits benefit Dayton Children's Hospital. Custom decorated trees, wreaths and garlands, unique holiday ornaments and decorations, gourmet treats, baby & children's clothing, toys and books. Complimentary gift wraps and light refreshments are available.

If you want to learn about some of Oakwood's well-preserved homes and public buildings then on Sunday at 2:00 PM in Wright Library there is a presentation called The Classic Architecture of Oakwood. A few of Oakwood's more notable residents will also be explored. There is no cost and lasts about 90 minutes.

Charlie Campbell wants to spread the news of so many wonderful aspects in the greater Dayton area. He is a cheerleader and a real believer that our area is the place to be. He has been active in this area for almost 40 years and you can hear him weekly at WYSO.
