What's Great in Dayton: November 25 - December 1, 2016

The Grande Illumination tree lighting is tonight at 7:45 p.m. at Courthouse Square in downtown Dayton. Watch the holidays light up during Dayton's traditional tree lighting. Approximately 100,000 colored lights will brighten the three-story-tall tree on Courthouse Square…and there are all kind of activities and fun things happening.

And if you want to see some wonderfully decorated old towns then check out the McPherson Town Holiday Home Tour. Each will be decorated in holiday splendor and you will look at where the home and the neighborhood have been and where they are today. Tickets are available and feature a guided tour, including a stop at a dessert house featuring homemade goodies and refreshments. This is Friday and Saturday.

At The Victoria Theater is a film called Children Of Eden. From the moment you bring a child into the world everything changes; you learn to protect, cherish, and love unconditionally. But as they grow you have to learn one more thing; to one day let them go. Featuring one of the most beautiful scores in contemporary musical theatre, this is a heartfelt and humorous musical about the unique family bond. This is Friday and Saturday at The Victoria Theater.

On Saturday evening you can gather your family and friends and enjoy an evening stargaze and planetary exploration. Observe constellations and planets, and the Moon. Carpooling is suggested as parking is limited. This is at the Glen Helen School Forest Meadow in Yellow Springs at 8 pm.

If you want to see a movie on a huge screen then check out Batman versus Superman: Dawn of Justice. In the wake of the destruction of Metropolis, fearing that the actions of Superman are going unchecked, Batman takes on the Man of Steel, while the world wrestles with what kind of hero it really needs. This is at the Air Force Museum Theatre on Sunday, 4:00pm.
