What's Great in Dayton: May 13 - 19, 2016

An exhibition now on view at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is Imagining a Better World: The Artwork of Nelly Tollwho was a childhood survivor of the Holocaust. An opening reception for the artist will be held tonight from 5:00 to 6:45p.m. The reception and exhibit are open to the public.

And also tonight from 5-9pm you can watch the Dayton Region's Walk of Fame come alive. They are showcasing Walk of Fame inductees, historians, and family representatives. At this street party you learn from some of the outstanding individuals and groups who have contributed to the greatness of our region. Live entertainment scheduled.

There are all kinds of new animal babies at Aullwood Farm! Learn firsthand about the care and feeding of babies and how they grow including a beautiful Belgian Draft Horse with her new foal. This event promises lots of frolicking, hopping, leaping, clucking, oinking, waddling and nuzzling as the Aullwood farm babies explore the barnyard and nature with their mothers. Join the Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department as they "unplug" from technology and have fun outside! You can support the Rosewood ceramics department by purchasing pottery created by Rosewood artists. There is also a unique, large-scale artwork by artist Michael Bashaw and plenty of food trucks, live music and many great activities. Sunday, 11 am - 4 pm; Delco Park, Kettering.

Learn about Richard H. Grant, Sr. and his estate, Normandy Farms, which is in Washington Township. He was a super salesman whose career started in 1904 as a clerk with NCR and ended in 1955 as Chairman of the Board of Reynolds & Reynolds. The Richard H. Grant, Sr. story is a little known, but important part of Dayton's history. This is Sunday, 2 pm at the Wright Memorial Public Library in Oakwood.
