What's Great in Dayton: March 17 - 23, 2017

The loony, lovable Addams Family takes the stage when Stivers School for the Arts presents its spring musical. Featuring a live student orchestra, spooky special effects and an unforgettable cast of characters, the production showcases a talented cast of students from Dayton's public arts magnet school. Tonight & Saturday at 7:00pm; Sunday at 2:00pm.

The Yellow Cab Food Truck kicks off another season of gourmet street food, live music and tons of family fun for Saint Patrick's Day, tonight, 5-10pm. You can get local beer,  and The Night Market offers you delicious spices, jams and produce, special bathing products, handmade toys and decorations, and countless other locally made goods.

Massachusetts was the first English colony to legalize slavery in 1641 and the colonists' desire for slaves shaped the major New England Indian wars. When the wartime conquest of Indians ceased, New Englanders turned to the courts to get control of their labor, or imported Indians, from Florida and the Carolinas, or simply claimed free Indians as slaves. Saturday is both March Math-ness AND a birthday party for the river otters at The Boonshoft Museum. March Math-ness is at 10am and you learn more about the universal language...math! The River Otters birthday party is at 1pm and you celebrate these two adorable and loveable otters' birthday party complete with special presents and treats only-an-animal-would love. There is no cost.

On Sunday at 5 pm the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra musicians will travel to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 2067 North Gettysburg Avenue, in Dayton to celebrate the human spirit through the universal medium of music with their first Stained Glass Series Concert. There is no charge and it is open to the public with no ticket required
