What's Great in Dayton: March 11 - 17, 2016

Wegerzyn Garden MetroPark is hosting the No Child Left Inside Summit

Ladies and Gentlemen: Start Your Oars! On Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM the Greater Dayton Rowing Association are sponsoring a "Get-Acquainted-with-Rowing" session in the downtown Dayton YMCA indoor pool. There will be a rowing shell in the water to try or you can start with a rowing machine at poolside. No reservations or experience are required.

The End of the Winter Bird Walk is on Saturday, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM in the Woodland Cemetery. Be on the lookout for year-round residents and the possibility of early spring migrants. Bring your binoculars and dress for the weather.  The walk is from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM and leaves from the main entrance of the cemetery.

The 2nd Annual Maker Fest is to celebrate innovation, creativity, and the do-it-yourself spirit that has historically made Dayton a world center of entrepreneurship and manufacturing. This is a free, family friendly event and adults will find just as much to enjoy as the kids will. It is on Saturday from 9am-3pm at the Tec^Edge Innovation and Collaboration Center.

The Miami Valley Leave No Child Inside Summit, is Saturday at Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark. From 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., it is for adults who would like to help children connect with nature. Then, from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m., parents and children are invited to join the summit for the Nature Club for Families program. They will play outdoors while learning how families can explore parks and enjoy nature.

The Dunbar Literary Circle will share the works of women writers and their contributions to history, culture and society.  You are also invited to read your own poetry or a poem by a favorite poet or writer or simply listen and enjoy. This is at the Dunbar house on Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. House tours at 1 pm; light refreshments follow.
