What's Great In Dayton: June 29 - July 5, 2018

An expert, Laura Jones, shares her experiences as a production manager for four years on Art21, which is a PBS documentary series. She provides behind the scenes personal accounts meeting the artists and she focuses on visual contemporary art and artists in the twenty-first century. Bring your chair, your snacks and drinks to the Dayton Society of Artists Tonight at 8pm.

Join Welcome Dayton to celebrate the various refugee cultures in the greater Dayton area! There are performances from Burundian, Sudanese, pan-African youth, Vietnamese, and other groups; a local immigrant-owned coffee truck, food "tasting stations" representing multiple countries, children's activities, a multicultural fashion show, resource tables, and a DJ! This is at Grace United Methodist Church, Saturday, 11am to 3pm.

The Paddle and Flight Festival celebrates Clean Water and Air. This festival helps celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Scenic River Act that helped bring the need of sustainable clean water sources and environmental change to the forefront of many people's minds. This event is Sunday, from 2-5pm at Washington Mill Park near downtown Bellbrook.

Now to July 3 all adult cats (over the age of 1) have their adoption fee's waived!SICSA are partnering with Best Friends Animal Society so adopters can enjoy fee-waived adoptions. This is a great opportunity for an adult cat to find a loving home.

You can spend the summer with some of the 20th century's biggest icons and idols. From Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, Jackie Robinson and Albert Einstein, to Grace Kelly, Andy Warhol, Walt Disney, and even Colonel Sanders. The exhibition presents 48 black-and-white photographs by acclaimed photographer Yousuf Karsh. This is at The Dayton Art Institute now to September 16.
