What's Great in Dayton: June 20 - 26, 2014

The DeWeese Ridgecrest Garden Showcase, Art Show and Tea is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ten gardens in Dayton's DeWeese Ridgecrest neighborhood will be on the tour.

The Oregon Historic District Society is also having its annual Garden Tour of nine distinctive private gardens on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It is a rich mix of historic and contemporary homes, with architecture ranging from the mid-1800s to modern.

The Rail and Steam Festival is Saturday, 9:30 am - 5:00 pm and Sunday 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm. This is at the Carillon Historical Park.

On Saturday, 10 am - 3 pm celebrate the anniversary of the first flight of the helicopter by learning about the aircraft that can go backwards, forwards, spin and even hover in place at National Museum of the Air Force.

And at the Loft Theatre....it's the passing of the torch in a country music dynasty as superstar Jeannine Jasper's long career draws to a close. The changing world of the music industry is about to thrust her little sister, Jamie Lynn, into the spotlight. A musical about heartbreak and healing, this regional premiere comes alive with an exciting original score filled with new songs.

And at the Schuster until Sunday is MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET. This is the smash-hit musical inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time.

Gotta Go....
