What's Great in Dayton: July 27 - August 2, 2012

Celebrate the kick-off of the London 2012 Olympic Games with the best opening ceremonies party in Dayton! It’s sure to be a “gold medal” night, full of English pub food, drinks, British music, prizes and fun, as you watch the opening of the Summer Games unfold. Who knows, the Queen herself might even make an appearance! This is at the DAI, tonight….7-11pm.

If you have ever wondered “What We've Learned about Mars” then from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday, in the Fairborn Library a presentation will let you know what we've learned about Mars from the robotic probes. A human mission to Mars is also discussed.

Forks Over Knives --The Film that can Save Your Life is Saturday, 2:00p.m. in the Dayton Main Library. The film examines the claim that degenerative diseases can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods.

Innocent or Guilty...You Decide! It’s called Old Case Files and it features a dramatic presentation of the 1876 trial in which Harry Adams was accused of murdering a Civil War veteran. Filled with mystery, intrigue, and excitement, audience members will have a chance to interact with the witnesses and some attending the show may be lucky enough to be chosen for the jury to decide Adams' fate. This entertaining and engaging living history event is Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday from 11:00 to 3 check out the Garden Station Community Garden and Art Park, at Fourth St. & Wayne Ave. in Dayton. The Sunday Market features local urban farmers, artists, and live music. Go to facebook and find GardenStation.
