What's Great in Dayton: February 26 - March 3, 2016

On Saturday theTroy Hayner Cultural Center will host its annual family-night-out concert. Beginning at 6:30pm kids can actually play many types of instruments and at 7:30 the band Wild Carrot will perform. They will share and demonstrate a number of instruments and it will be a hand-clappin', toe-tappin' time.

Dayton Fight Night is where the biggest names in Dayton duke it out center stage in a boxing match. These Daytonians get to join greats like Jack Dempsey and Muhammed Ali when they box in the historic Memorial Hall. It is Saturday; 8:00pm to midnight.

A Tale of a Tail: The Story of a Red-tailed Hawk Family. The Winter Speakers Series Program will be held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Aullwood Audubon Center. Adult Red-Tailed Hawks are beautiful birds with a bright, rusty red tail and are often seen soaring high over the Ohio landscape.

Greenlight Grants are small, quick, grants, awarded to local nonprofit organizations in need of funding for special projects, program expansions, capital improvements or capacity building. The deadline to apply for the first cycle of Greenlight Grants is Tuesday, March 1.

A documentary photographer and filmmaker Larry C. Price will be on hand Monday to discuss his current work which includes a long-term project on child labor and a two-year documentary on the health effects of global pollution. Larry is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and recently won a national Emmy award. This is Monday from 6:30 - 7:30 P.M. at the Oakwood Community Center.
