What's Great in Dayton: August 26 - September 2, 2016

Tonight you can go to an outdoor movie. "Homeward Bound" will be shown outdoors at SICSA in Kettering. Local vendors will be on site from 8:00 PM - 9:15 PM with pet-related items for sale, as well as snacks and treats. The movie will begin at 9:15 PM. You are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for seating in the lawn.

The 23rd Annual Greater Dayton Lebanese Festival will feature Middle Eastern dancing and entertainment, cultural displays, crafts booths and amusement rides for all ages. Authentic hand-made Lebanese foods will be available. This is this evening, Saturday, and Sunday at St. Ignatius of Antioch which is on State Route 741 as you are getting closer to the Dayton Mall.

Alefest is Saturday, 3 - 6pm. at Dave Hall Plaza in downtown Dayton. Over 400 craft beers, cask alley, wine garden, live music, food trucks, vendors and more!!!

Now, we all know the Chicago Bean, the New York LOVE sign, and the giant lawn birdies in Kansas City. Well, UpDayton and the K12 Gallery are seeking proposals for a new Dayton icon. They want creative thinkers to submit designs for public sculpture that will attract locals and visitors alike. The submission deadline is September 14.
