What's Great in Dayton: August 1 - 7, 2014

This is First Friday in downtown Dayton....check it out on Facebook.

If you go to 48 High Street Gallery guest Artist Abby Rose Maurer is displaying her edgy contours. Her show is titled "Tylenol + Beer" and consists of new works by this award-winning artist.

Now, the Human Race is really busy this weekend. Tonight and Saturday afternoon they are doing a brand new musical of Molly Sweeney. She was blind since early childhood and is happy and independent, living a life of contentment in a world of her own creation.

And on Saturday evening there is The 2014 Songwriter Showcase: A compilation of songs from new and developing musicals hosted by Broadway veteran and Dayton native Susan Blackwell.

Come one, come all to the 13th Annual Old-fashioned Family Sundae Social at Aullwood Farm from 1 to 4p.m. on Saturday. This is a community "must-do" event for every age! Admission is free with a nominal charge for ice cream and toppings.

Innocent or Guilty...YOU DECIDE! The murder trial reenactment at the Old Court House in downtown Dayton features the 1908 trial of Harry Crooks. He was accused of chasing down and shooting his ex-wife in the middle of a Dayton street. This play is located at the old court house and is tonight, Saturday and Sunday.

Garden Station Sunday Market is the only local produce outlet in Montgomery County that is open on Sundays. It runs 11 a.m.-2 p.m. or whenever they sell out. Show your support for our local urban farmers and local, organically produced foods by shopping local!
