What's Great in Dayton: April 22 - 28, 2016

Garden Station's EarthFest is Saturday

SICSA Pet Adoption Center is doing a "Recycle-A-Bull" on today, tomorrow and Sunday. All Bully breeds will have a discounted adoption fee. Bully breeds can make fantastic family pets, despite biased and unilateral sanctions given to the entire group. Available dogs can be viewed at the website which is sicsa.org/view-our-dogs

Garden Station is leading the way to Go a Shade Greener with the grassroots, community volunteer-run festival, EarthFest on Saturday from 10 AM until 6 PM. Bring your whole family and join your neighbors in an Earth Week celebration of a healthier and more sustainable way of living.

Celebrate Earth Day! Have fun while connecting with environmental, community, and health-related resources.  The festival features community groups, artists, educators, community builders and change-makers from throughout the Miami Valley. Have fun with hands-on activities, Kids Zone, live music, environmental/outdoor programming, and guided hikes. This is all day Saturday at the Glen Helen, in Yellow Springs.

Welcome spring with kite stories, kite building and kite flying during the Kite Tales event from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. You can also watch the incredible sport of indoor kite flying by watching some fly their kites indoors with no wind!

You know that famous Wright Brothers House in Oakwood? Well on Sunday from noon – 5:00pm there is a very special Hawthorn Hill open house featuring the Wright great-grandnephew Stephen Wright and never-before-seen Wright artifacts!
