The Clark County Public Library in downtown Springfield has a new look. The library is undergoing major renovations as part of a 2.6 million dollar project designed to make the building more accessible to patrons. The update includes a newly remodeled entrance. Lead Architect Steve Sharp says visitors found the old entrance confusing.
"People really couldn’t tell how to get into the building really well" says Sharp. "We wanted to make a splashy statement that says look this is how you come into the library. And to me this was a very satisfying and fun project."
Sharp says he hopes the new entrance and interior renovations will help to draw more people to the library and increase book circulation. At a grand opening later this spring patrons will see remodeled restrooms, additional meeting spaces. and heating and cooling updates.
