Have you ever had to reinvent yourself, because of the big changes in our local economy or in your personal life? Did you lose a job, go back to school, do things you never thought you’d be doing? What is that like?

ReInvention Stories: Fifth Street Brewpub Co-Op

Brian Young & Maureen Barry"
Brian Young & Maureen Barry

The Fifth Street Brewpub will be Ohio’s first brewpub co-op – and only the second in the nation – when it opens this year. Brian Young is the President of the Board and Maureen Barry is the co-op’s Membership Director. The couple wanted to reinvent a neighborhood eyesore: the former American Saloon on East Fifth Street in Dayton’s Saint Anne’s Hill Historic District.

This story was produced by Eric Risher, Lesley Fogle, and Sarah Buckingham.

Also visit ReInventionStories.org.  You’ll find a super cool multi-media, interactive website that tells seven more reinvention stories in a longer format. And that’s where you can tell your story and include your
own photographs.

Reinvention Stories is a collaborative transmedia project from Dayton, Ohio, created by a team of filmmakers, WYSO 91.3, AIR and Zeega as part of Localore, a  national public media initiative of AIR, in collaboration with Zeega, with principal funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
