A Prairie Home Companion coming to WYSO in October

Chris Thile, host of A Prairie Home Companion
Devin Pedde

Exciting programming changes are coming on WYSO next month!

Beginning Saturday October 15, 2016, WYSO will carry “A Prairie Home Companion.” Garrison Keillor, the host and creator of the program has retired and a new host named Chris Thile is taking over.  He’s a wildly talented musician and will  take the show in new directions.   We can’t wait to hear the new APHC unfold over time and we’re expecting great things.

This program will air on WYSO on Saturdays from 6-8 pm.  WYSO’s local Celtic music program “The Dear, Green Place” will move to Sunday afternoon at one pm and be followed by Nick Spitzer’s “American Routes”.  Music returns to Sunday afternoons on WYSO!

Other changes include:

  • “RadioLab” will move to Saturday at 1pm, replacing “Studio 360”.
  • “The Splendid Table”  will air at 11am Sunday instead of the  “Wait,Wait, Don’t Tell Me” repeat.
  • NPR’s “Jazz Night in America” will be replaced by the WYSO Documentary Hour and Selected Shorts (repeat) will be replaced by “This American Life” (repeat) on Tuesday evenings.

We’re trying to keep our program schedule fresh and exciting.  There are more great programs than ever before made by both local and national producers.
You have noticed, I’m sure, that we create more local content every year at WYSO, and we expect that trend to continue.

Thank you for supporting WYSO!  We are able to evolve and change and improve because of your financial support.
