Local Musician's CD Showcases Trumpet Versatility

Daniel Zehringer is an Associate Professor at Wright State University where he serves as head of the Trumpet studio and coordinator of the Faculty Brass Quintet. He also conducts the Wright State University Trumpet Ensemble.

Zehringer has just released a CD on Navona Records. The recording company says of his new album "JOURNEYMEN’S SONGS showcases the versatility of the trumpet on works performed by Daniel Zehringer. Accompanied by various instruments, including percussion, string bass, and cello, selected compositions by Steven Winteregg are themed around time and place."

On Thursday, Zehringer spent time in the WSYO studios with Music Director and Excursions host Niki Dakota, spinning tracks from the CD and playing live.

Jerry Kenney is an award-winning news host and anchor at WYSO, which he joined in 2007 after more than 15 years of volunteering with the public radio station. He serves as All Things Considered host, Alpha Rhythms co-host, and WYSO Weekend host. <br/>
