JobsOhio Created Record Number Of Jobs In 2015, Report Says

Ohio's privatized economic-development agency says in its annual report that it's created a record 23,602 jobs last year.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that JobsOhio also attracted $6.7 billion in corporate investment last year, increasing the agency's percentage of both jobs landed and investments made by approximately 10 percent compared to 2014.

The nonprofit says the new jobs have an annual payroll of $1.1 billion, which represents a 17 percent increase over last year's payroll creation. The Cincinnati area ranked first in jobs created by the agency.

JobsOhio reported that it also retained a total of 54,233 jobs carrying $3.1 billion in annual payroll from last year.

The agency is now in its fifth year after being established by Republican Governor John Kasich and state lawmakers.
