'Homegrown' Team To Lead Dayton Art Institute

The Dayton Art Institute’s board of trustees announced today that two Daytonians have been selected to lead the museum. Michael Roediger will be the new executive director. He’s currently the vice president of development at Victoria Theatre Association, where he has been for 13 years. Jane Black will become the museum’s associate director, which is a new position. She’s the executive director of the Dayton Visual Arts Center (DVAC).

Roediger will assume the position on October 1st, while Black plans to join near the end of the year. Roediger says he knows he comes to the institution during difficult times.

“I spent wonderful years with my Victoria family, but I am eager to move on and welcome new opportunities to introduce the wonders of the DAI to many more people,” says Roediger.

“We assessed our greatest needs and anticipate that our new leadership team will bring great energy and new ideas to the Art Institute,” says Board Chairman Rob Connelly in a statement. “We intend to fully execute our strategic plan by improving our outreach and expanding our audiences.”
