Law enforcement authorities are asking anyone with information related to a suspected double homicide at a Yellow Springs duplex to come forward and call a dedicated tip-line. Authorities have not yet named a suspect in the killings.
At a briefing with reporters Wednesday, Greene County Sheriff Gene Fischer says the male victim was shot multiple times. He says investigators believe he was the intended victim.
Fischer says initial evidence indicates the shootings were “not random."
"But we still are asking the Yellow Springs residents specifically because they know the people involved in this, the victims, to give us a call if they can help us solve this crime," he says.
The body of a woman was also found. The victims have been identified as William Brown and Sherri Mendenhall of Yellow Springs.
Anyone with information is urged to call 937-562-4815.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the state Attorney General’s office are assisting Greene County in the investigation. More information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
