The birth of the food truck is traced back to Texas in 1866 when Charles Goodnight turned a US Army surplus wagon in to a mobile kitchen for the long cattle drives known as Chuck wagons, which gave way to push carts and lunch wagons.
In 2008 the Kogi Korean BBQ food truck pioneered the modern food truck movement, using social media to announce it’s mobile locations. Now, gourmet food trucks make up a $1 billion dollar industry.
This Friday night kicks off the Yellow Cab Food Truck Rally. A monthly event that runs through October, featuring 9 food trucks offering a wide range of gourmet, ethnic and fusion foods and desserts.
The rally takes place from 5 - 10pm, at 700 E. 4th street in Downtown Dayton.
List your event on the WYSO community calendar and we might spotlight it on the air!
