This weekend is a junkers delight. Starting with Boy Scout Troop 191’s Annual Garage Sale at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Kettering, Saturday and Sunday. This is their biggest fundraiser of the year and their troop master said they already have over 600 items donated for the sale. All proceeds from the event fund scouting activities like summer camp, new gear and scholarships for families in need.
This weekend is also the Extravaganza at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Springfield. Although not as big as it used to be when I was a dealer in the ’90’s, back before ebay, it’s still big enough that it will take you most of the day to get through all the booths. The show is listed as one of the best collectibles shows in the Nation and it’s always a fun time. Friday is the best day to go to get a jump on the crowd. By Sunday most of the dealers have packed up, but the ones that are left are usually willing to strike some good deals on prices.
