Juliet Fromholt has been listening to WYSO for as long as she can remember.  She began volunteering at the station while also serving as Program Director and General Manager at WWSU, the student station at her
alma mater, Wright State University.  Juliet does many things at WYSO including overseeing the station's web and social media presence, producing news features, and hosting two music programs.  In her spare time, Juliet serves as music editor DaytonMostMetro.com and is proud to serve as a board member for the Antioch Writers' Workshop and Cityfolk.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Human Reunion

Human Reunion's new album has been a 3 year work-in-progress, but the end result, an album called Arc de Square was well worth the wait.  The band visited the WYSO studios for a live performance and discussed translating their raw live energy into a recording, especially when they usually weren't in the same room during the recording process.

Human Reunion will perform Saurday night at Blind Bob's.

Live on Kaleidoscope: The Rock and Roll Play Date

Kyle Melton, Jay Madewell and Shaine Sullivan at South Park Tavern wanted something more from the typical Open Mic night. They were looking for an all-inclusive event breaking the mold of the traditional one man with a guitar on stage. Essentially, they were looking to create the ultimate live jam session. Thus, the Rock n' Roll Play Date was devised. In this interview, Juliet Fromholt talks to Melton, Madewell, and Sullivan about the origins of the unusual Rock n' Roll Play Date.

Job and Family Services Adapt

There are some signs that the job market is improving, but longer periods of unemployment mean that many people are replying on support from local agencies. Last fiscal year The Clark County Department of Job and Family Services faced a $3 million deficit and a 10% increase in cases.

Springfield Museum and Wittenberg Collaborate

Last year the Springfield Museum of Art looked to its members for suggestions on how to deal with a budget shortfall. Now a new collaboration with Wittenberg University will provide new opportunities for students and more financial sustainability for the museum.

Wittenberg will purchase the museum facility and lease part of the space back to the Springfield Museum of Art.

Museum Director Angus Randolph says that this will help put the focus back on the art.

Greater Downtown Dayton Plan Unveiled

The Greater Downtown Dayton Plan was unveiled yesterday. It expands the area traditionally thought of as downtown in an effort to create a larger more sustainable community.

Mike Ervin says that making downtown Dayton larger just makes sense.

"Downtown is a much bigger place extending down to the Oakwood border and the University of Dayton to Miami Valley hospital and a number of neighborhoods, spilling across the river and down alongside it. That's really our downtown when you think about," says Ervin.
