Juliet Fromholt has been listening to WYSO for as long as she can remember.  She began volunteering at the station while also serving as Program Director and General Manager at WWSU, the student station at her
alma mater, Wright State University.  Juliet does many things at WYSO including overseeing the station's web and social media presence, producing news features, and hosting two music programs.  In her spare time, Juliet serves as music editor DaytonMostMetro.com and is proud to serve as a board member for the Antioch Writers' Workshop and Cityfolk.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Encore Theatre Company's Spring Awakening

Encore Theatre Company's production of Spring Awakening opens January 20th and runs through February 4th.  The production is directed by JJ Parkey, who played Hedwig in last year's production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.  In this preview, Parkey talks about the production, the story and the unique theater space for Spring Awakening.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Nine False Suns

Nine False Suns

Nine False Suns combines rock and roll, reggae, jazz and funk into their own unique sound like allows them to explore all sorts of musical territory.  The band is planning a lot of activity for 2012 including recording and more live shows. 

You can see Nine False Suns perform at Canal Street Tavern on February 4th as part of the Dayton Does Dayton music festival.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Meg Cavanaugh

Meg Cavanaugh began considering songwriting in high school while she was involved in musical theater.  Looking influences like Ani DiFranco and Joni Mitchell, Cavanaugh picked up a guitar and years later is a performing songwriter.  Cavanaugh debut album, The Musketeer's Handbook is out now, and she's currently writing more songs in anticipation of a second album.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Concept Media

When musician Shawn Burkett became a father, he wanted to stay closer to home.  So he turned to another artistic pursuit: filmmaking.  Along with his friend and collaborator, Ryan Stacy, Burkett formed Concept Media, and the company released its first film, Midsummer Nightmares earlier in 2011. 

Here Burkett and Concept Media actress Ayse Howard discuss their start in film and the new projects they'll be working on in 2012.
