Jerry Kenney

Host, All Things Considered and Producer, WYSO Weekend

Jerry Kenney was introduced to WYSO by a friend and within a year of first tuning in became an avid listener and supporter. He began volunteering at the station in 1991 and began hosting Alpha Rhythms in February of 1992. Jerry joined the WYSO staff in 2007 as a host of All Things Considered and soon transitioned into hosting Morning Edition. In addition to now hosting All Things Considered, Jerry is the host and producer of WYSO Weekend, WYSO's weekly news and arts magazine. He has also produced several radio dramas for WYSO in collaboration with local theater companies. Jerry has won several Ohio AP awards as well as an award from PRINDI for his work with the WYSO news department. Jerry says that the best part of his job is being able to talk to people in the community and share their experiences with WYSO listeners.

Miami Twp. Will Not Contract Police Services

According to reports, more than 200 people showed up last night at the Miami Township Board of Trustees meeting in Montgomery County. At issue is the fate of the Miami Twp. Police Department.

The local fraternal order of Police say they were told the township was considering contracting out Police Services to Montgomery County.  At last night’s meeting, it appears the Trustees put those fears to rest, saying they never pursued contracting with Montgomery County, and they were focused on securing funding for existing police force.

Local Officer Fired Over Juvinile Inmate Treatment

Miami Township deputy police chief John DiPietro has been fired over actions last year involving the jail decontamination of a 17-year-old girl.


Trustees voted Wednesday to terminate after hours of testimony in disciplinary hearings that began last year. He had been on paid administrative leave since October.

Miami Township Police Services in Question

A sizable crowd is expected tonight in Miami Township in Montgomery County at the board of trustees meeting. At issue is the fate of the police department. In May, voters there will be asked to vote on a 5.25 mill police levy, and a 3.5 mill fire renewal levy for fire services.

When Miami Twpship Trustees approved those measures several weeks ago,  they also talked about the possibility of contracting out Twp. police services.  Now Miami Twp. Police officers are trying to find out where they stand.
