The WYSO Broadcasters' Ball
WYSO is holding its first-ever reunion during the Antioch College Commencement Weekend! WYSO alums from all over the country are coming to town, and we want our local listeners there to welcome them and celebrate with all of us.
On Friday June 19 at 7:30pm we'll gather at the Foundry Theater on the Antioch College Campus to meet-up and celebrate at an event called the Broadcasters' Ball. It's not a gala affair, no dancing or ballgowns, but a chance to meet, share some drinks from Yellow Springs Brewery and the Emporium and food by Current Cuisine and then enjoy an hour-long multi-media show in the theater featuring WYSO broadcasts from every decade going back to our founding in 1958.
You'll hear some of the first WYSO broadcast, meet our founders, hear programs from the past like Women in Music, Duck Butter Blues, the WYSO Peoples' News, Alternate Takes, the Rhythm and Blues Express and many more.
It's an unusual event, hard to describe, sort of like WYSO: many voices, a wild variety of music, sometimes traditional, sometimes experimental.
It's called the Broadcasters' Ball to celebrate the first such event - held in 1958. There never was a second. It's a party, WYSO-style.
Won't you come and celebrate with us? Space is limited so get your tickets today.
