The nation’s electric grid – a half century-old patchwork system that moves electricity from plants to consumers – is central to our daily lives. BURN’s hour-long special, The Switch, examines the state of America’s aging and often over-burdened electric power grid – the people who keep it running, innovators constantly thinking of ways to make it smarter, and what happens when the grid lets us down.

Dave Isay is the founder of StoryCorps and the recipient of numerous broadcasting honors, including six Peabody Awards and a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship. He is the author/editor of numerous books that grew out of his public radio documentary work, including three StoryCorps books: Listening Is an Act of Love, Mom: A Celebration of Mothers from StoryCorps, and All There Is: Love Stories from StoryCorps – all New York Times bestsellers.
Spend an evening with WYSO staff, volunteers and listeners at our annual Silent Auction on April 20th, 6-9pm, at the Hollenbeck-Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center in Springfield, 300 S Fountain Ave, next to the Clark State Performing Arts Center.
