Students and faculty members involved in Yellow Springs High School Drama Club's production of Pirates of Penzance visited the WYSO studios the morning of opening night to perform some of the show's songs live on Excursions.

This week marks the inaugural performance of YSKP's original musical parody, Godzilla!  Writer and director Corrie Van Ausdal visited the WYSO studios along with Blaze Wright, one of the performers and songwriters.  Van Ausdal and Wright talked about the development of the production, and Wright shared one of the show's songs.

YSKP's production of Gozilla! is February 8-15th at the Glen Building in Yellow Springs.  More details are available at

Nativity The Pop Opera returns to the Miami Valley this holiday season.  This year's production features new choreography and will star legendary gospel singer Sherman Andrus.  Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt spoke with Andrus about his musical legacy and with Nativity's co-creator J. Todd Anderson about this year's production.

Nativity the Pop Opera will be performed December 12-14 at the Beavercreek Church of the Nazarene and on December 15 at The Gathering in Centerville.

While trying to pay off his own student loans, Aaron Calafato found himself working at a for-profit university.  Based on his experiences in the for-profit education industry, Calafato wrote and performs in For Profit, a one man show that combines storytelling, comedy and theatre.

Calafato will perform For Profit this weekend at the Occupy Dayton Community Space on East Third Street in Dayton.

Encore Theatre Company's production of Spring Awakening opens January 20th and runs through February 4th.  The production is directed by JJ Parkey, who played Hedwig in last year's production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.  In this preview, Parkey talks about the production, the story and the unique theater space for Spring Awakening.
