Sugarcreek Township is asking voters to approve new funding for fire and emergency services. The township's fire department has been in the news since the construction of Cornerstone, the development that houses Costco in Centerville.

Sugarcreek was set to provide emergency services for Cornerstone since Centerville doesn’t have a fire department, but the township claimed it wasn’t given enough money to do so. The dispute lasted years and was resolved towards the end of the summer.

The owners of the Cornerstone development, where a Costco store opened in November, have filed a lawsuit against Sugarcreek Township over fire and emergency services.

This week the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released a report on the effect of the Affordable Care Act on jobs. Among other things, the report says low- and middle-income workers may have less incentive to work more hours if it means losing health care subsidies.
