Feds Back Off Commercial Licenses for Farmers

 Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Transportation said it was looking into whether farmers should be required to have commercial driver's licenses to operate farm machinery.  This week, WYSO’s Jerry Kenney reports – that decision has been made.

DOT officials announced that they won't move forward with Commercial license requirement.  Dozens of members of Congress from farm states in the Midwest wrote to the transportation department, asking that the idea be scrapped.

Test Shows Only 28% of Ohio Students College-Ready

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Results of ACT college-admission tests suggest that nearly three-quarters of Ohio high school graduates aren't completely prepared for college.

Test results released today show that only 28 percent of test-takers in the Class of 2011 at Ohio public and private high schools met college readiness standards in English, reading, math and science.

The state beat the national readiness score of 25 percent.

Sentencing for 2 Convicted in Ohio Pot Farm Case

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A judge is scheduled to sentence the final two defendants today in a marijuana case that state investigators have called an example of cartel-sponsored drug production. All 11 men arrested last September after a sweep of a growing operation in Muskingum County have pleaded guilty.
