Greene County Still Looking For Pollworkers

Election Day is less than 24 hours away, but the Greene County Board of Elections could still use a few more poll workers. 

Greene County Board of Elections Director Llyn McCoy states that the county is still short of people to work the polls Tuesday. She stated that usually there are four workers, two Republicans and two Democrats that  are present at each of the county’s 146 precincts. But this year, due to a shortage of people, workers have been trained to work in team's of three.

Help Wanted At Area Boards Of Elections

The lack of student interest and older residents unable to work the polls has created a shortage of workers.  Hundreds of positions need to be filled before the May 6th primary.

It takes 584 poll workers to get the job done in Greene County and right now the search is on to fill about 200 of those slots. Warren County needs nearly 150 more workers.

The problem in Montgomery County is even bigger.
