Ohio Medical Marijuana Ballot Issue Moves Forward

DAYTON- A group that wants to legalize medical marijuana in Ohio has turned in more than 2,100 petition signatures in a first step toward putting the measure before voters.

The Dayton Daily News reports a proposed summary of the ballot language must be approved before additional signatures are collected.

Supporters of the measure need more than 385,000 to place what's called the "Ohio Alternative Treatment Amendment" on the November 2012 ballot.

Cohen reports that the wording will be hashed out next week when the Ohio board ballot meets which could lead to some controversy.

Husted Release Ballot Issue Order

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio's elections chief says the first of three statewide issues listed on the November ballot will be about whether to raise the age limit for judges.

Secretary of State Jon Husted says Issue 2 will be whether to keep Ohio's new law limiting collective bargaining rights for public workers. The third issue will let Ohioans vote on whether they want to participate in the national health care overhaul.
