Free health screenings, a community baby shower and health information forums are among the Dayton events happening in April as part of so-called National Minority Health Month.

The month's events kicked off last week at the Neon Theatre, with a Dayton Council on Health Equity gathering aimed at promoting health improvement and awareness in Miami Valley communities of color.

This year, The Neon in downtown Dayton asks the question "What do Bette Midler, Danny Glover, Danny DeVito, Laura Linney, Ian McKellen and Laverne Cox all have in common?" To find out the answer, WYSO's Jerry Kenney spoke with Neon manager, Jonathan McNeal.

McNeal joined us in the WYSO studios recently to provide a rundown of the films that will be showing in this year's Dayton LGBT Film Festival. In the interview, you'll also find out what question McNeal says he hasn't received from the press or from anyone he's talked to about the festival.

Hannah Beachler is a graduate from the Wright State University film school and the lead production designer for the film Fruitvale Station. Niki talked to her about her experience working on the film and sculpting the landscape around the actors. They also discuss the real events that inspired the inspiration of a feature film.
