The Zoot Theatre Company presents The Pearl, Friday and Saturday in the Mathile Theatre of the Schuster. The Pearl tells the story of Kino, a poor pearl diver who gets his hands on the “pearl of the world” and through his journey, discovers the greed and evil that comes with such a prize.
Actor Cliff Robertson, whose career spanned a half-century, died on Saturday at the age of 88.
Along with his lengthy acting career, Robertson was known for his love of aviation. He was a frequent visitor to the Aviation Hall of Fame, located next to the National Museum of the United States Air Force. He would fly in his own place from New York to Dayton to attend the Hall of Fame's Enshrinement ceremonies. His participation resulted in his own enshrinement in the Hall of Fame in 2006.
DAYTON, OH - A reunion of the Doolittle Tokyo Raiders who made a daring U.S. air strike on Japan after the attack on Pearl Harbor will be held next April in Dayton. Officials at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force say as many as five members of the group of 80 flyers are expected to attend.
Last week, in a ceremony at the National Museum of the United State Air force in Dayton Ohio, Senior Airmen Tre Porfirio received the Purple Heart. On Nov. 21 2009 Tre was shot 3 times by Afghan insurgents. Those three bullets have resulted in more than 20 surgeries. Tre's recovery has involved some ground breaking medical techniques. At last night's ceremony Airmen Porfirio talked about his personal fight for life.
Porfirio says, "It's been a battle, lot a help from Community, squadron, my Girl and baby... it makes it easier."
