As the new year approaches, Rosedale and Alex Baker visited the WYSO studios to share some songs and give updates on what they've been doing since their last visit to Yellow Springs. Each performed several songs live on the air and talked about plans for 2014.
On Saturday, December 7th, local musicians and music fans will gather at Blind Bob's for North of Nowhere South, a celebration of the life and music of Jeremy Frederick. The show will feature many of Frederick's former bandmates and proceeds benefit his daughter's education fund. Local musicians Tim Krug, Tyler Trent and Christian Roerig visited the WYSO studios to talk about Jeremy's musical legacy and share some songs from his vast musical legacy.
This Saturday, Ghostlight Coffee will host Artistic Expression, it's a benefit show for Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley's Miracle Clubhouse. Dawn Cooksey is a singer-songwriter who also works for Goodwill Easter Seals. She visited the WYSO studios to talk about Artistic Expression and the mission of Miracle Clubhouse.
Heliacs are a young band who began as schoolmates as playing covers. Soon they began to write their own material and through some family connections, began to discover Dayton's rich music history. Heliacs visited the WYSO studios for a live set on Kaleidoscope and talked with host Juliet Fromholt about their early days, finding their sound and what 2014 holds for the band.
The Yugos are a young band from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. Beginning as a duo and then growing into a four-piece, they released full length album Life Is Awesome And Then You Live Forever earlier this year. The band visited the WYSO studios for a live set on Kaleidoscope and talked about their music so far and what's coming up in 2014.
