B-25 Bombers to Fly Over Ohio for Doolittle Event


One of the five Doolittle Raiders expected to attend this week’s 70th anniversary gathering at Wright-Patt Air Force Base will not be able to attend.

Wright-Patt’s web-site says Lt. Col. Robert L. Hite, co-pilot of Bomber 16, will not attend due to health reasons. The World War II vintage bomber planes began landing at Wright-Patt this morning.  Tomorrow 21 Bombers are expected to take part in a fly over as part of the 70th anniversary commemoration of the Doolittle Tokyo Raid.

Military Hopes to Return 3 Fallen Ohio Soldiers Together

     COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Military officials say they want the remains of three Ohio soldiers killed in Afghanistan flown back into the state together from Delaware's Dover Air Force Base.

Soldiers From Ohio Killed in Afghan Attack

Government officials say three U.S. soldiers killed in this week in Afghanistan were from Ohio, as were several others seriously wounded in the bombing.

The Department of Defense has identified the soldiers as: 36-year-old Capt. Nicholas J. Rozanski of Dublin; 45-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Jeffrey. Rieck of Columbus; and 44-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Shawn Hannon of Grove City.

Beavercreek Native First Female 4-star General in Air Force

An Ohio native has been confirmed as the next commander of the Air Force Materiel Command, making her the first woman to become a four-star general in the Air Force.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the U.S. Senate confirmed Lt. Gen. Janet Wolfenbarger this week to lead the command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. She was nominated by President Barack Obama in February.
