Col. Cassie Barlow addresses the men and women now under her command.
One of the largest air base wings in the Air Force got a new commander. Col. Cassie Barlow assumed command of the 88th Air Base Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base at a ceremony Tuesday morning at the National Museum of the United States Air Force.
In the ceremony, Col. Amanda Gladney thanked those who, she says, helped make her leadership successful.
Officials with the Air Force Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base say they are ready to transition from 12 centers to 5 centers. The consolidation changes were announced in November of 2011 in response to the Defense Department's request to save money and to make operations more efficient.
The restructuring plan is expected to save the Air Force 109 million dollars a year.
