Sinclair To Partner With Ohio State On Drone Programs

Sinclair's National Center for UAS Training aims to become a leader in teaching drone engineering, design and operation.

Sinclair Community College in Dayton has announced a partnership with Ohio State University on its unmanned aerial system (UAS) or drone program.

Sinclair recently got news of a $4 million grant from the state to improve its facilities for teaching about drones. Now Sinclair will team up with Ohio State to offer people who get UAS certificates or associate’s degrees options to complete a degree at OSU in data analytics or geospatial precision agriculture; OSU students will be able to take classes at Sinclair to earn a certificate or degree.

Dayton Water Resources Key To Future Economy, Stability

On a sunny day in April, the bike path on the Great Miami River was covered completely by river water. Climate change will likely mean more frequent extreme rain and flooding in the region.

Human-caused climate change is expected to have devastating effects across the country and world. The Midwest is somewhat insulated from extremes of drought or rising seas, but a recent report finds Ohio could see costly effects ranging from flooding to dangerous extreme heat spells by the end of the century.

Yellow Springs Kids Playhouse Celebrates 20th Anniversary, Embraces Change

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Yellow Springs Kids Playhouse. It’s been called “children’s theater for adults” with topical themes, sophisticated humor, and clever songs. This year’s show, Superhuman Happiness, adapts the Greek myths of Ovid’s Metamorphosis to explore the role of change in kids’ lives today. The playhouse and artistic director John Fleming also face some major changes. Community Voices producer David Seitz has their story.
