Joe Anderl and Kris N are Dayton-based songwriters and great friends. Each is releasing a new album in November (Anderl's under his band name, 1984 Draft), and the pair visited the WYSO studios for a live acoustic performance. They spoke with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt about their upcoming releases, the writing process and the community of songwriters in Dayton.

Niki Dakota interviews Mike Haslet of the Day-Tones barbershop quartet and listens to a few choice pieces to publicize the up-coming barbershop quartet festival on the 12th, this year themed 'Celebrate Dayton'.
Haslet informed Niki during the interview that this year will not only be the 28th gathering of the Miami Valley Music Men, to which the Day-Tones belong, but also the 75th anniversary of the creation of the barbershop harmony society, originating in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

With roots in several other Dayton and Columbus-based bands, the members of Connections have been hard at work on their newly released sophomore album, Body Language. Frontman Kevin Elliott spoke with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt ahead of the band's Dayton Music Fest appearance about the new album, their upcoming local performance and more.
Connections will perform on Saturday, October 5th at Canal Street Tavern as part of Dayton Music Fest.
October 4th and 5th mark the ninth annual Dayton Music Fest, an event celebrating music in the downtown Dayton community. This year's event features over 30 bands at 6 local venues. Several of the bands visited the WYSO studios ahead of Dayton Music Fest 2013 for a live set on Kaleidoscope.
