Heliacs are a young band who began as schoolmates as playing covers. Soon they began to write their own material and through some family connections, began to discover Dayton's rich music history. Heliacs visited the WYSO studios for a live set on Kaleidoscope and talked with host Juliet Fromholt about their early days, finding their sound and what 2014 holds for the band.
The Yugos are a young band from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. Beginning as a duo and then growing into a four-piece, they released full length album Life Is Awesome And Then You Live Forever earlier this year. The band visited the WYSO studios for a live set on Kaleidoscope and talked about their music so far and what's coming up in 2014.
Georgia Goad and Sean Pennington of A Shade of Red make a long awaited return to Kaleidoscope ahead of a benefit show they're hosting at Therapy Cafe to benefit the local chapter of GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network. The duo perform an acoustic set live, talk about a new addition to the band and upcoming plans.
A Shade of Red will perform at Therapy Cafe on November 22nd along with Curse of Cassandra and Paige & the Bel Airs.
Although Lovely has only been around for about a year, Chip Heck, Vinny Arceo, Dave Brandenburg and Wendell Hensley have been playing music together in various bands and projects for nearly 10 years. Now with their debut EP, Waitin' in Dayton, and new material in the works, the band is poised for writing, recording and live performance in 2014. Lovely visited the WYSO studios for a live set on Kaleidoscope and chatted with host Juliet Fromholt about recording the EP, writing songs together and upcoming live gigs.
