After years of playing metal and punk, Chris McFadden (mandolin/vocals) and Josh Dillon (guitar/vocals) decided to explore something different and began playing the more acoustic Bluegrass-influenced music that would become the signature of Stillwater Riverband. The band has grown to two members to four and spent the first part of 2012 performing many live gigs in the Dayton area. The band is now recording their first album and stopped by the WYSO studio for some live songs.
Stillwater Riverband will release its debut album in early 2013.
Tim Kao began writing the songs that would become Old Music for Young Hearts while living in Shanghai, China. When he returned to the U.S., he met up with several established local musicians with whom he finished the album. T.Kao visited the WYSO studios to perform live versions of songs from Old Music for Young Hearts and to talk about the collaborative recording process for the album.
