Learn To Earn Dayton Selected For National Education Partnership

A Dayton education initiative called Learn to Earn has been selected for a national partnership. The Lumina Foundation is giving 20 cities up to $200,000 for the project. It's part of an effort to prepare the region for the high paying jobs of the future.

Panel Discussion Focus On Student Mobility Problems In Montgomery County

A group of education advocates and administrators are leading a panel discussion Tuesday morning to discuss the impact of how students moving from school to school impairs a their academic success. WYSO’s Emily McCord reports the group is trying to raise awareness so schools are better equipped to handle what’s called “student mobility”.

Learn to Earn Aims to Improve College Readiness

A new education initiative has launched in Dayton. At an event yesterday, hundreds of community and business leaders gathered for Learn to Earn. The goal is to bring together education and community members to provide students with an education that will equip them to go on to college. It will give a specific focus to high poverty areas to improve kindergarten readiness, third grade reading proficiency, 9th to 10th grade transitions and college enrollment. The nonprofit organization aims to increase the percentage of students with college degrees from 34% currently to 50% by 2025.
