Governor Kasich Says His Comprehensive School Plan Is Coming Soon

Governor Kasich has signed a bill into law that grades schools on an A through F grading scale, which is a part of a bigger education plan that the Governor intends to release soon.

Ohio Governor John Kasich says Ohioans can expect to see his plan for improving education in Ohio’s k through 12 schools by the end of this month.  He says he and his staff have been working on it for months.  And Kasich says he’s glad details of it are not being released to the press.

PoliticsOhio: State Budget Won't Relieve School's Financial Woes, Says Lawmaker

Kettering Republican Senator Peggy Lehner was appointed this week to continue her work as chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Education. She previewed what's ahead this year with Emily McCord. Lehner says isnt' likely to see any more cash earmarked for education in the upcoming state budget, but other ways to find revenue are in the works to help Ohio's schools, like Governor Kasich's plan to overhaul the school funding system.

Kasich Says More Human Trafficking Changes to Come

Ohio Gov. John Kasich says he'll back further legislation this session bolstering the state's legal crackdown on human trafficking.

Kasich spoke at an awareness event Friday at the Statehouse. The Republican governor said the state is marshaling its resources against the crime, but more can be done.

Victims of human trafficking often are prostituted or pushed to work against their will in sweatshop-type jobs. Some are girls as young as 11.

Kasich Lauded for Autism Mandate, But Move Has Critics

Ohio Governor John Kasich was lauded Wednesday by dozens of state legislators and parents of children with autism. They celebrated the Governor's order that, starting next year, will require health insurance policies in Ohio to cover autism treatment.

Michael Wasmer has a daughter with autism. He said the governor's move would help families with autistic children AFFORD the thousands of dollars worth of annual treatment that can bring those kids into the mainstream.

JobsOhio Bond Sale Moves Forward Despite Suit

Ohio's new private job-creation entity is moving forward with a nearly $1.2 billion bond sale intended to fund its 25-year lease of the state's liquor business.

JobsOhio and Republican Gov. John Kasich's  administration made the joint announcement Tuesday. Proceeds of the Jan. 23 sale would go to economic development efforts.

JobsOhio Chief Investment Officer John Minor and Kasich's budget and commerce directors said they're confident in proceeding after Moody's and Standard and Poor's both issued favorable ratings Monday.
